Bruce LaBruce Death Book II Signing, Screening, and Reading

On July 15th at 17:00, join us at a.p. for a screening, reading, and signing with Bruce LaBruce in celebration of his publication 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘐𝘐. 

Prolific and internationally-acclaimed, Bruce LaBruce’s work spans film, performance, photography and beyond. From his early films, like 𝘕𝘰 𝘚𝘬𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘔𝘺 𝘈𝘴𝘴  and 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳 8½, to more recent his most recent feature 𝘚𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵-𝘕𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦, LaBruce explores the revolutionary potential of sex, pornography, and transgression. LaBruce’s work eschews the existence of taboos. The radical cosmos of themes across his works encompasses sadomasochism, incest and sexual repression so as to illuminate issues of class solidarity, queer empowerment, and antiauthoritarianism.

The second installment of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 is dedicated to Bruce LaBruce’s archive of rare or previously-unpublished work characterized by morbid fascinations. Challenging the viewer to explore what lies beneath the veneer of Western society, the book combines documentation of actions, film production stills, and never-before exhibited archival works from projects including 𝘏𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦, 𝘖𝘵𝘵𝘰; 𝘰𝘳 𝘜𝘱 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘗𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦, and 𝘓.𝘈. 𝘡𝘰𝘮𝘣𝘪𝘦.

At the event, LaBruce will present a screening of two short video works, read from his book 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴: 𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘛𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨, and sign copies of 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘐𝘐  and 𝘗𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴. After the screening and reading, stay after for drinks in our courtyard.
