Non-Productive Readers is a reading group series for art writing, cultural theory and experimental criticism. Taking its name from artist Josef Strau’s essay ‘The non-productive attitude’, the group aims to explore relationships and hierarchies between theory and practice; talking and making; publication and exhibition.
Each group session will feature a different text, which will be sent out two weeks prior to meeting. If you’d like to attend, please email bryonyjdawson@gmail.com to receive reading material and further information.
The first group will take place on Thursday 26th January, 5-7pm, and then run on the last Thursday of every month for the next four months. It will run as an informal discussion, and it’s up to you how much you’d like to participate. Lurking listeners always welcome!
Bryony Dawson is an artist and curator working across moving image, sound, writing and installation. Her practice is currently concerned with modes of (mis)translation between language, image and space, and the generative possibility of their slippages and failures.
